After a long flight from Melbourne, we arrived in Darwin in the early hours of Saturday morning. It was Chris' birthday and I had arranged for an edible bloom to be delivered to the hotel as a surprise for him as he did not get any presents in the morning.
After some sleep we had a wander around Darwin - there is not really a lot to see, but it was sunny and hot. Like Cairns, they are trying to redevelop their waterfront area and have built a lagoon and wave pool. We also had a wander down to some of the beaches - bit strange seeing trees growing in the sea!!!!
We had a walk down to the Stokes Wharf and watched the fish off it before heading back to the hotel for a sleep as we were knackered from arriving at 2 am.
In the evening we went to have a look at the beautiful sunset and some bats flying around from the Esplanade...
